What are the 24 words (your super PIN)?

When you set up Vaulix, the app shows you 24 words. They appear only this one time. Right after, the app asks you for three of them, so you know you wrote them down correctly.

Think of the words as a master key, a kind of super PIN. They are your way back into the vault if you forget your PIN or want to continue on a new phone. With the words you simply choose a new PIN.

Only you know the words. Vaulix does not store them and cannot send them to you again. We have no access to them either and cannot reset them.

How to keep them safe:

• Write them on paper and keep it somewhere safe, for example with your important documents.
• Don’t take a photo or screenshot, and don’t save them in a notes app or cloud.
• Don’t share them. Anyone who has the 24 words can open your vault.

What happens when I change phones?

Your files are stored encrypted on your phone. To move them, export a vault file on the old phone and bring it over, for example with AirDrop, a cable or the Files app.

On the new phone, open the file with your usual PIN. If you forgot the PIN, enter the 24 words and choose a new one.

Good to know: the words open the vault, but they don’t fetch files from anywhere. Without the vault file, the files stay on the old phone. Export is always free, on the free plan and after you cancel.

Can Vaulix see my photos?

No. Files are encrypted on the phone and stay there. There is no account and no server for the contents.

How do I cancel?

You cancel in the store where you started the subscription. After that the free plan applies again: your files stay readable and exportable, and you can add new ones as long as you have fewer than 15 files.

I forgot the PIN.

No problem, as long as you have your 24 words: enter them in the app and choose a new PIN. The words stay valid afterwards. Without the PIN and without the words there is sadly no way back to the files, not even through us.

Where is the deleted original?

If you let Vaulix remove the original from the gallery, the system often keeps it in Recently Deleted. The system can remove it for good from there later.
